The Common Good: Christians responding to poverty and inequality

On a Saturday morning in March 2015 representatives of some of the churches in the Oxford Archdeaconry met to reflect on and learn about the poverty on our doorstep.We began with a theological reflection on inequality, led by the Revd Susan Durber, Christian Aid’s Theological Advisor.Alison Webster, the Social Responsibility Adviser for the Oxford diocese, then spoke on “Cold and Hunger: Food and Fuel Issues”.We then looked at how different groups were addressing poverty in our area, with presentations and discussion led by community groups:Asylum Welcome (the Revd Bob Wilkes)Community Cupboard (Rose Hill) (the Revd Sarah Northall)Oxford CAP Debt Centre (John Livingstone) (presentation)Oxford Youthworks (Hannah Woods)The Windmill (Headington) (Elizabeth Whitwick)
